Dr. Charles (“Chuck”) Peterson is a highly skilled biologist and ecologist with 38 years of experience in academia, laboratory research, and fieldwork; his primary fields of study have been herpetology and vertebrate biology.
In particular, he is experienced with Mojave desert tortoises (Gopherus agassizii) and is authorized to capture, handle, weigh, measure, and mark desert tortoises; to affix to and remove radio-tracking devices from tortoises; and to draw blood (under supervision) from them under a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service permit.
Dr. Peterson is also experienced with quantitative data analysis, statistics, and related software (such as SYSTAT and SigmaPlot). He is proficient in writing, editing, and reviewing scientific and nonprofessional materials, and has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals.
Dr. Peterson holds a PhD in Biology from the University of California at Los Angeles and a BS in Zoology from Michigan State University in East Lansing.
