New NCO Academy Physical Training Field, Fort Huachuca, AZ

In the spring of 2013, Vernadero completed development of a new physical training field at the Noncommissioned Officers Academy at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. This 17,500 SF field meets revised Army fitness regulations and is one of the country’s finest facilities. Top-of-the-line synthetic turf with shock-absorbent padding makes the field suitable for activities ranging from general exercise and martial arts to light-contact combat drills. Custom-built pull-up bars, dip bars, and kettle bell storage border the field. Energy-efficient LED lighting optimizes sustainability. Vernadero also designed and installed an innovative underground drainage system that drains stormwater through the turf into underground storage chambers, keeping the field free of ponding and eliminating the need for space-consuming detention basins or stormwater holding areas.
